Gerard Manion

Gerard has been a pioneer in the Australian learning industry for over 20 years. He began his career as the National Training & Development Manager for Rebel Sport running a team of 7 trainers across a national network of 27 stores and over 1,800 staff. It was this experience that lead Gerard to explore the use of the web to deliver training in a more consistent and measureable way, 24/7.

In 2000 he cofounded Workstar, with the vision to become the market leader in online learning, development and recruitment solutions for organisations large transient workforces, such as those found in the retail sector.

Gerard developed and launched ‘Rebel Uni’, Australia’s first learning management system deployed into a retail network. His success in retail led to Workstar’s client base growing rapidly to include a numerous other blue chip retailers including Godfrey’s, Repco, Sydney Duty Free, Europcar, Bunnings and McDonald’s.

Gerard’s entrepreneurial spirit, has led him to build a diverse portfolio business ventures including the establishment of Registered Training Organisation, Business Analyst Firm and Software Development Company.

Gerard is also a recognised artist in his own right as well as a set designer for the Australian Ballet and Sydney Dance Company.
